Are you asking yourself:

"What can I do?"

There are three ways that you can help the teachers in La Cañada:
  1. Come to the next local school board meeting on Tuesday, May 31, 2005 at 7:00 p.m. in the Information Resource Center at La Cañada High School.  Sit with the teachers and hold up signs asking the district to value their teachers, counselors, psychologists and nurse.
  2. Host a house meeting with teachers and parents to help spread information about the school district’s budget including their 8.8% reserves, the costs of maintaining health benefits for teachers and providing a cost of living adjustment.  Teachers want the community to understand our needs and we would love to come into your homes and answer questions.
  3. Contact your locally elected school board members.  You can do this by e-mail, phone or through letters.  They need to know that constituents are disappointed.  Here is their contact information:
Ron Dietel, president, rdietel@lcusd.net
Scott Tracy, stracy@lcusd.net
Andy Beattie, abeattie@lcusd.net
Jenny Dalbeck, jdalbeck@lcusd.net
Cindy Wilcox, cwilcox@lcusd.net

The teachers thank you for your support!

Dear Elected Board Member:

As a voting parent in this community, I urge you to settle this contract with the teachers.  I support our high quality teachers and the La Cañada Teachers Association. It is time for you to show the community and the teachers respect by settling this contract.  I recommend you do everything that you can to reach an agreement with the teachers before the end of the school year.

Sincerely,
